Grosse Pointe Farms

Grosse Pointe Farms since its establishment in 1892 has
been considered one of the finest communities in the
country. Located on the southern shore of Lake St. Clair and
just east of the City of Grosse Pointe and west of Grosse
Pointe Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods, its population,
according to the 2010 U.S. Census, is 9,479. Home to The
Hill, an upscale shopping area which has select stores,
professional services and a variety of great restaurants.
Two of the restaurants, The Hill Seafood and Chophouse and
The Dirty Dog Jazz Café, were named “Restaurant of the Year”
by Hour Magazine. Several of the Grosse Pointe Public
Schools are located within the community including Richard
and Kerby Elementary Schools, Brownell Middle School and
Grosse Pointe South High School. The Central Branch of the
Grosse Pointe Public Library is also located here. Grosse
Pointe Academy and St. Paul’s Catholic School are both
located in The Farms. Grosse Pointe Farms’ Pier Park offers
its residents the exclusive use of a sandy beach, in-ground
pool, ice skating rink and warming house, community
building, picnic facilities, playgrounds and large harbor
for boats of all sizes. The Farms is also home to the Henry
Ford’s Cottage Hospital and the new home to Services for
Older Citizens in the historic Newberry House on Ridge Road.
Community buildings also include the Grosse Pointe War
Memorial which is home to the Grosse Pointe Theater, Grosse
Pointe Cable TV, summer concerts on the lakeside, community
educational and exercise programs, Grosse Pointe Rotary and
many veteran’s programs. The Grosse Pointe Historical
Society has its headquarters here, too. One of the most
prestigious private clubs in the country is located here,
The Country Club of Detroit. There is also a private sailing
club located in the Farms, Crescent Sail Club, and another
private club, The Grosse Pointe Club. Here are some
