Grosse Pointe Park is the community located on the
extreme west of the Grosse Pointe suburbs. Its area
encompasses approximately 2.2 miles of land, according to
the U.S. Census. In the 2010 Census, the population of
Grosse Pointe Park was 11,555. The Park borders Detroit on
the west and has frontage on southern Lake St. Clair. The
Park offers two lakefront parks for residents’ only.
Patterson Park is a passive park with beautiful fountain
which converts to an ice skating rink for a few months each
winter, fitness trail, putting green, tennis courts, picnic
area and views of international freighters cruising by its
seawall. The active park is Windmill Pointe Park. It has a
gorgeous swimming pool, movie theater, fitness facility,
Tompkins Center for parties or events, tennis courts and
large harbor for both power and sailboats. One of the newest
attractions to Grosse Pointe Park is the West Park Market.
Open from May to October, this outdoor market provides a fun
atmosphere for residents and non-residents alike. Grosse
Pointe Park shares schools with the Grosse Pointe Public
School System and there are two elementary schools and one
middle school in the city. One of the branches of the Grosse
Pointe Public Library, the Ewald Library, is located in the
Park adjacent to the Police, Fire and City offices. There
