Grosse Pointe Hunt Club |
Grosse Pointe Woods is the largest in land area
and population of the five Grosse Pointes. There is a total
of 3.3 square miles and the population, per the 2010 Census,
is 16,135. Grosse Pointe Woods is a “Tree City”, as are the
other Grosse Pointes, and takes great pride in its
beautification efforts. The commercial district of The Woods
provides unique shopping experiences in the one of a kind
boutiques along Mack Avenue. The Mack Avenue Association is
comprised of a variety of business and professional
services. The Grosse Pointe Public Schools are
well-represented with Ferry, Monteith, Poupard and Mason
Elementary Schools, Parcells Middle School and Grosse Pointe
North High School. Grosse Pointe Woods is the only one of
the Grosse Pointes that is not located on Lake St. Clair but
its residents’ only park, Lakefront Park, is located on the
water in neighboring St. Clair Shores. Residents enjoy a
large slide that soars above the in-ground pool, large green
space and private marina. The Woods also has the two
campuses of University-Liggett School, Michigan’s oldest
independent school. The private golf club, Lochmoor Club,
offers an expansive course with club house and an indoor
tennis facility. Also, the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club provides
a little bit of “country” in the city with its barns, indoor
riding arena and tennis house and outdoor riding areas. Here
